On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.John Cena is the third wrestler to appear in a "Transformers" feature, after Dwayne Johnson (who played Cliffjumper in Transformers Prime (2010)) and Joe Seanoa (who played Predaking in Transformers: Power of the Primes (2018)).
Cena is also the third wrestler to appear in a Michael Bay feature, after Johnson (who was in Bay's film Pain & Gain (2013)) and Stephen Farrelly (who played Rocksteady in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016))
